Pastoral Officer Opportunity!

Manor Green Primary is an ‘Outstanding’ Special School for children aged 2–11. We are a generic learning disability school supporting pupils with a range of special educational and complex learning needs, including moderate learning disability, severe learning disability, profound and multiple learning disability, ASC and other co-occurring needs.

We are looking to appoint a Pastoral Officer to join our dedicated and supportive team.

This is a key role within the school, working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff and families to ensure high-quality pastoral care, positive behaviour support and strong safeguarding practice. The successful candidate will play a central role in promoting Behaviour for Learning, supporting attendance, working with vulnerable pupils, and strengthening communication between home and school.

Pastoral Officer – Job Description

 

  1. To be on call to deal with any behaviour/student issues
  2. To record incidents and follow through with them in conjunction with other staff
  3. Contact parents/families to ensure effective communication with the Primary
  4. Promote parental engagement across the Primary
  5. To support attendance team with high tariff cases.
  6. Take part in lunchtime duties.
  7. Support students requiring additional temporary support in class to access learning
  8. To provide cover supervision to enable teachers to meet with Educational Psychologist, School Nurse and other outside professionals
  9. To supervise the outside of Primary at the beginning and end of the day and ensure safe transition to school transport
  10. To support Pastoral Leaders in the monitoring of Behaviour for Learning
  11. To be a member of the Safeguarding team
  12. To produce reports for meetings
  13. To collate information for meetings regarding students in vulnerable groups. To also attend meeting and represent the primary where appropriate.
  14. To work with DHT/Attendance officer to support students with persistent absence
  15. To be a first aider
  16. To carry out other duties to ensure appropriate pastoral care is given to students at MGP
  17. To support in classes in the event where cover is required

Knowledge and skills

  • Good knowledge of SEN, Child Protection
  • Excellent ICT skills
  • Excellent knowledge in supporting behaviour in all classes at MGP.

 

  • Knowledge of alternative methods of communication
  • Have C+ in English and Maths at GCSE
  • Qualified to L3 or above or A-level or above

 

Interpersonal and communication skills

  • Confident in managing student behaviour
  • Effective in supporting others in team
  • Excellent communication with parents, staff and outside agencies.

 

Initiative and independence

  • Organised
  • Able to prioritise effectively
