Homework
Homework looks different for each year group and is designed to support learning in a manageable and meaningful way.
Across the school, we prioritise home–school reading using our reading scheme and Rocket Phonics. Reading regularly at home is extremely important as it helps children develop confidence, fluency and a love of reading, while also supporting progress across all areas of the curriculum.
To further enrich learning at home, we use online platforms such as Big Maths, Sumdog and Teach Your Monster to Read. Login details can be obtained from your child’s class teacher.
-
Years 1 and 2 focus primarily on home–school reading, with regular opportunities to practise phonics and early reading skills.
-
Years 3 and 4 continue to develop reading at home, alongside access to online learning activities to support key skills.
-
Years 5 and 6 are offered optional activities and projects to support learning across the curriculum and develop PSHE skills such as independence, responsibility and resilience.
-
Children in SATs groups will receive more formalised homework opportunities to support revision and preparation.
We value the partnership between home and school and appreciate the support families give in helping children develop positive learning habits.
