Information for Your Child's Annual Review
What is an EHCP Annual Review?
An EHCP Annual Review is a yearly check-in to make sure a child or young person’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is still working well for them.
It’s a chance for everyone involved parents or carers, the child or young person, school staff, and professionals to sit down and talk about:
· What’s going well
· What’s not working as well as it should
· Whether the support in the EHCP still matches the child or young person’s needs
During the review, people look at progress, goals, and any changes that might be needed at school, at home, or with health or care support.
After the meeting, the local authority decides whether to:
· Keep the EHCP the same
· Make changes to it
· Or, in some cases, end the plan (usually only when it’s no longer needed)
The aim of an EHCP Annual Review is simple: to make sure the right support is in place so the child or young person can thrive.
Who will be at the Annual Review?
At Manor Green a Lead member of the team will chair the meeting, you will be invited along with any relevant professionals, where appropriate your child will attend the meeting.
What do I need to do for the Annual Review
Parents and carers will be invited to attend their child’s EHCP Annual Review meeting via My Child At School (MCAS).
You will receive a copy of the Annual Review paperwork, written by your child’s class teacher, along with reports from any other professionals involved in your child’s care, two weeks before the meeting. We encourage you to read through the reports in advance in case there is anything you would like to be changed or added.
Ahead of the meeting, you will also receive a Parent Voice document. Please complete this and bring it with you to the meeting, as it is an important opportunity to share your views.
If there has been any new information or changes to your child’s diagnosis, health, or social care since the last review, please bring copies of these reports with you. We will make copies and submit them as new evidence alongside the Annual Review documentation.
