18th July 2014 Newsletter

We’re sad to say that Gill Parsonson will be retiring at the end of this term. Gill joined us as a Teacher from Deerswood School when we merged with them to become Manor Green Primary/College in April 2004. Gill has taught pupils across the whole of the school and went part-time in 2013. We know you will join us in thanking her for all the dedicated and hard work she has put in over the years and wish her a very happy, long and healthy retirement. In addition Fergus Reid is leaving us to train as a teacher—we know you will join us in wishing him every success in his studies and chosen career path.

This term in order to assess pupils, we have started to use our new Assessment Tools. The Assessment Tools have been designed especially for Manor Green with the forthcoming curriculum changes in mind and to test the pupils in a more comprehensive manner. As a result, some pupils may appear to have lower levels than previously, If this is the case for your child, please be assured this does not mean that they have made less progress or have taken a downward step. The new tool means that we are able to ensure that pupils are making, and continue to make a rapid and sustained progress in all areas. If you have any further cause for concern, please contact Maxine McDonald-Taylor, Deputy Headteacher.

Please may we ask you to ensure that all dinner money is paid and up to date before the final day of term on 23rd July If You have any queries, please contact Julie Bagwell in the school office who will be only too pleased to help you with your enquiry.

The last day of term is Wednesday 23rd July. School will end at the usual time of 3.10pm for all pupils except those in Year 6 who will go home with their parents/carers after the leavers assembly
in the morning. All the remaining pupils are invited to bring in party clothes to change into after lunch in exchange for a donation to ‘Kids Out’ who kindly donate a day at Chessington for our pupils
each year. We hope you will help support this very worthy cause.

That just leaves us to wish everyone a very happy, safe and wonderful Sizzling Summer Break (here’s hoping)!
Although term begins on 3rd September, we won’t see you back at school until Monday 8th September as we are closed for 3 consecutive INSET days for staff training.
