News and Information for Year 6 Parents/Carers

  • Hindleap 2015 (residential trip) details to follow with prices, dates and meetings for Parents/Carers to attend.
  • The Government is changing the Statement of Special Educational Needs to an
    EHCP (Educational Health and Care Plan) Parents of Year 6 pupils are the first to be affected by this change. We have sent a letter home to invite you to come and meet with professionals get the help you will need to complete the forms. The information you personally write on this form will affect your child’s statement, their funding and the help they receive. We feel that it is vital you make an appointment either on Tuesday 21st October or Thursday 23rd October to come to a meeting.
    All year 6 reviews will be held before the end of the Autumn Term (December 2014) We have our appointment sheet ready for your call!

Next week the pupils at Manor Green Primary School will be celebrating Diwali.
During the week our pupils will be able to taste food cooked for them by Kulvi Bains to celebrate Diwali and learn about the story of Sita and Rama and why Diwali is celebrated. There will also be lots of other exciting activities for the pupils to take part in.

Harvest Celebration week will now take place the week immediately after half term (3rd November). Thank you to everyone who has sent in donations for Harvest. We still need your items please, so if you haven’t sent them in, please do. The charity who collects the ’harvest offering’ ask for tinned food (meats, fish, soups, fruit, vegetables) please as these store better, have a longer life and can be used to make up meals for the families who receive the items. Thank you for your generosity and support.

THE BIG DRAW: On Wednesday 5th November and Thursday 6th November pupils will be taking part in the Big Draw on our theme ‘landscapes’. They’ll be working on and with various art medium around the school and might come back a little messier following an inclusive and fun couple of days!

There will be some activity session for children with disabilities at Kings Centre, East Grinstead on Sunday 2nd November from 1pm to 3pm. The activities on offer are: boccia, curling, bouncy castle, soft play and also free swimming vouchers will be offered. All children must be accompanied at all times by their parent or carer and siblings are welcome to go along and join in the fun! The activity sessions arefree of charge.

Saturday 15th November, Worthing College, 930am until 3.30pm PACE (parent and carer event) are holding an event for parents/carers of children with additional needs. The cost is £6.00 per person which includes:

  • Workshops – handling stress and building resilience, changes to SEND education, supporting your child’s social skills
  • Information Stands – pamper sessions which are 1:1 sessions with a wide range of practitioners
  • Free (but limited) crèche facilities for (1 to 10 year olds)
  • Keynote speaker: Sherann Hillman, the co-chair of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums who will be speaking about the Care Bill 2015 from the perspective of a parent/carer.
  • A talk on disability hate crime by PC Peter Allen. Booking is essential.

Our first non-uniform day to collect items for the Friends Christmas Fair will be held on Friday 24th October (next week). In exchange for your child wearing their own clothes, please send in new unopened bottles of wine, beer, fizzy drinks, spirits and/or clean jam jars filled with sweets for the jam jar tombola. If you don’t want to send things in, please send your child to school in their school uniform. Thank you for your co-operation.
